3 Signs Your Boiler is Working Inefficiently
Don’t wait until your boiler breaks down completely, take note of these 3 signs that your boiler is working inefficiently; and schedule a service as soon as possible.
3 signs of an inefficient boiler
1. Your radiators take longer to warm up
Have you noticed that your radiators aren’t heating up very well? Are they warm but not hot? This could be a sign that your boiler is working inefficiently.
It could be to do with a build up of sludge in the system. Having a gas-safe approved engineer look at and service your boiler is the first step. They may suggest a power flush of the system if it is just residue build-up.
2. Your boiler is leaking
If you find your hall cupboard full of water, or even just a steady drip from your boiler, this means your boiler is leaking and you need to take immediate action.
It could be a pressure issue causing a weak point to burst, or corrosion causing an old part to fail. Either way, a leak will cause issues and further damage to your boiler; as well as to your home.
If you have a leak, contact us for an emergency call-out!
3. Your boiler is making unusual noises
Can you hear a gurgle or rattle from your boiler?
Usually, while there is a minor hum while your boiler is working, this should be smooth and almost unnoticeable. If your boiler suddenly starts to make rattling, clunking, or unusual noises, shut it off and call for a service.
Ongoing usage if there is damage to a part or an issue with limescale kettling could cause further damage to your boiler.
