Baxi Boiler Types Compared

We are Baxi Approved installers, so we thought we’d go through the the Baxi boiler types on offer, and compare them for you.

How big your household is, how many bathrooms, space available and hot water needed all come into how to choose the right boiler. If you’re in doubt, we can help to advise.

Baxi Combi Boilers

Baxi combi boilers come in a variety of sizes, but they are all compact and great for apartment living. We discussed in an earlier article how useful combi boilers are for single-bathroom properties; and how efficient they are, as they only use the hot water needed.

Baxi combi boilers come in standard natural gas and LPG versions, and some are now certified to use the 20% hydrogen split to accommodate the transition to hydrogen proposed by the UK government.

Built in the UK with quality brass components, the whole range of Baxi combi boilers is reliable and popular. We often suggest the mid-range Baxi 600, which combines small size with decent power.

Heat Only Boilers

If you’ve got a water tank in your attic, you’ve probably got a heat only boiler. Theses boilers work with a cold water storage tank, a pump and expansion tank to provide heat for your home. And work alongside a hot water heater.

They take a lot more room than combi boilers, but they are perfect for larger multi-bathroom homes and those properties with low water pressure. The Baxi Heat Only boilers are very quiet to run, and the unit itself fits inside a hall cupboard (with your tank in the loft).

Baxi System Boilers

A system boiler has all the components within one unit, with the pump and expansion tank within the unit itself. Because they are an all-in-one unit, there is no need for a cold water storage or expansion tank in your attic.

Plus, they are compatible with unvented hot water cylinders.
